Our Beagles!

Instructions on how to adopt a beagle from Nittany Beagle Rescue and the adoption application form can be found on the Adopt a Beagle page.

Buddha

Hi! My name is Buddha & I'm a very friendly 8-year old male beagle. I'm good with other dogs & cats! My hind legs are paralyzed due to a back injury. I also have a neck injury. I weigh about 30 lbs. My people have to carry me outside & support me while I potty. I bark when I need to go outside. Right now, I'm on "bed rest" until early/mid Feb. After that, I will be neutered. Nittany Beagle Rescue is looking into getting me a cart for after I'm off of bedrest. I can't wait! Also, Nittany Beagle Rescue will be consulting with a veterinarian who specializes in integrative methods to see whether I would benefit from some of their services like acupuncture & an underwater treadmill. I'm a very happy fellow & I'm in a great foster home who can take care of me as long as needed - so no worries there! I like to cuddle next to my person when sleeping on the couch! I need to be crated when I'm in a car - otherwise, I try to move around a lot. I am available for adoption once I'm a little better. You can see more photos of me on my PetFinder page: https://www.petfinder.com/dog/buddha-50179332/pa/west-decatur/nittany-beagle-rescue-pa98/

Buddy

Hi! My name is Buddy! I'm about 8 years old, but that's a guess. I lived with Spot (also available for adoption) & belonged to a person who had to go into a nursing home. We were going to be euthanized, but this kind woman offered to take Spot & me. She thinks we probably lived outdoors. She was able to teach us house manners & we made great progress on housetraining (we poop outside now). But we still need work. Its very hard to housetrain 2 dogs at once, and so Nittany Beagle Rescue will place Buddy & Spot in separate homes. (You can read about Spot's own set of issues & his need for a special home). But I love to play & be loved! I have a corky personality! I'm also very sweet & gentle! I still need some work on house manners, but I learn quickly, especially if someone can focus on me 1-on-1! I've lived in a home with Spot & another dog & several cats, & I did fine with them. I'm crate trained. I will be neutered before I'm adopted. Please think about making me part of your family! I'm living in a boarding kennel now. I'm anxious to find my forever home - or a foster home while I wait for my forever home to come! I probably weigh about 35 lbs. Jack

Hi! My name is Jack! I need a home because my person passed away. I'm playful & I love to have my belly rubbed! I love attention & affection, & I love people! I'm full of energy! I'm a very smart fellow & I learn quickly! I've lived all my life with other beagles outside as a hunting dog. But I'm ready to come in & be part of a family! Because I haven't been around young children, I will be placed in a home with older children (8-12 years) or no children. I need a home where I will have a securely fenced yard. (I have been known to dig under a fence.) I've been learning to walk on a leash since I came to Nittany Beagle Rescue, & I'm doing much better! Because I've lived all my life outside, I will need work on housetraining & house manners. But I lived in a hutch in my old home, & so I have the idea about going outside vs. inside - so that is a big start! Nittany Beagle Rescue can provide advice on housetraining & house manners. Jack seems to be good with other dogs. He will chase cats but we think he'd stop if someone worked with him on that. Jack is a big boy! He barks in a crate, but the more he is crated, the better he is doing in them. He does better in metal crates. We need a foster home for Jack so he can start learning about living inside the home with the family. Please think about making Jack part of your family! Jill

Hi! My name is Jill & I'm an 8-year old female beagle. I need a home because my person passed away. I've lived all my life with 2 other female beagles outside as a hunting dog. I'm in a foster home now & I'm LOVING it! I'm very mellow & I'm doing well with the other dogs in my foster home. I LOVE to be cuddled & to sit on a person's lap all the time! If you are walking around the house, I will follow you with my tail wagging! My foster home calls me a Velcro dog! I'm making great progress on housetraining & house manners. I haven't had an accident in the house yet! I'm very smart! I'm learning fast about living in a home. Because I haven't been around young children, I will be placed in a home with older children (8-12 years) or no children. I don't know how to walk on a leash, & so that is something I need to learn. Because I never went anywhere, I'm pretty timid in new situations. I'm having back issues & this is showing up through some lameness in my back legs. I'm on meds now & I'm doing much better. But it's possible it's a chronic issue, & so I will have a back x-ray when I'm spayed just to see. Once I'm better, I'll need a home where I will have a securely fenced yard. I have been known to dig under a fence, so it needs to be secure. I will run off looking for bunnies to chase if I get loose. I'm anxious to become part of a family as a member of the household. Please think about making me part of your family! Click on my page to see another photo of me!

Pete

Hi! My name is Pete! I need a home because my person passed away. I'm a very affectionate guy & I love people! I've lived all my life with 3 other male beagles (also available for adoption) outside as a hunting dog. But I'm ready to come in & be part of a family! Because I haven't been around young children, I will be placed in a home with older children (8-12 years) or no children. I need a home where I will have a securely fenced yard. I have been known to dig under a fence, so it needs to be secure. I will run off looking for bunnies to chase if I get loose. I don't know how to walk on a leash, & so that is something I need to learn. Because I never went anywhere, I'm pretty timid in new situations. I will be neutered before being adopted. Because I've lived all my life outside, I will need work on housetraining & house manners. But I lived in a hutch in my old home, & so I have the idea about going outside vs. inside - so that is a very big start! Nittany Beagle Rescue can provide advice on housetraining & house manners - we actually find it easier to housetrain older dogs than puppies (older dogs focus better!). We need a foster home for Pete so he can start learning about living inside the home with the family. If you aren't ready to adopt, please think about fostering him! Click on my page to see a different photo of me. I'm a big boy & 8 years old! ADOPTION PENDING.

Sadie

Hi! My name is Sadie & I'm a 10 year old female beagle. I need a home because my person passed away. I've lived all my life with 2 other female beagles outside as a hunting dog. I'm in a foster home now & I'm LOVING it! I loved the bath my foster mom gave me, & I adore having my head & back rubbed! I like to stick right by my foster family. I'm making great progress on housetraining & house manners. I'm very smart! I'm learning fast about living in a home. I'm still a little jumpy, & I might be that way for awhile. This is all really, really different for me. I'm a big girl - about 40 lbs. I will be spayed before I'm adopted. I also have a mammary tumor that will be removed when I'm spayed. I'm anxious to become part of a family as a member of the household, enjoying life on the couch! Please think about making me part of your family! More photos of Sadie: https://www.petfinder.com/dog/sadie-50284688/pa/west-decatur/nittany-beagle-rescue-pa98/

Shiloh

Hi! My name is Shiloh, & I'm an 8-year old male beagle mix. I've lived all my life with Camo, who is also available for adoption. But we can be placed separately. For the 1st 6 years of my life, I spent most of my time shut in a room with Camo. Then 2 years ago, a couple moved into the house where I lived & worked really hard to socialize me. I've made major improvements! When I meet someone new, I will bark at them. But if you give me lots of soft treats, I'll warm up to you & be your best buddy! Besides Camo, I've also been around cats & I'm fine with them. (I'm dominant with other dogs). I'm basically housetrained, but if you don't let me out, then I'll go in the house. For the past 2 years, I'm used to going out several times a day, & I will whine when I need to go outside. I enjoy playing tug-of-war! I've been around children & I'm fine with them. But it's important to take your time introducing me to strangers & let me get to know them at my own pace. I'm neutered. There is a hard lump on my hip that needs to be removed ASAP. I'm in a foster home now & will have my surgery soon! Please think about making me part of your family. I love being part of a family & loved! Click on my page to see another photo of me! Spot

Hi! Mt name is Spot! I'm an older guy, maybe about 12 - but that's just a guess. I love to eat & sleep! I like to take my time doing things. I really enjoy being outside, so a home with a fenced yard would be fantastic! I really need a home with no steps (or just 2 or 3 to get outside) since I'm partially blind & I'm afraid. It's very hard having to go to a new home & being older & not being able to see much. So sometimes I'm a little grumpy. I do well in a crate, although I'll growl when you put me in it. (But I'm just being grumpy - I don't mean anything by it). I lived with Buddy (also available for adoption) & belonged to a person who had to go into a nursing home. We were going to be euthanized, but this kind woman offered to take Buddy & me. She thinks we probably lived outdoors. She was able to teach us some house manners & we made great progress on housetraining (we poop outside now). But we still need work. Its very hard to housetrain 2 dogs at once, and so Nittany Beagle Rescue will place Buddy & Spot in separate homes. I've lived in a home with Buddy & another dog & several cats, & I did fine with them. I will be neutered before I'm adopted. I'm anxious to find my forever home! I'm in a temporary foster home now, but I really need a home with no steps (or just a few). I probably weight about 40 or 45 lbs. Please think about making me part of your family! I will warm your heart once you get to know me! Click on my page to see another photo of me!

Tip

Hi! My name is Tip! I need a home because my person passed away. I'm a very affectionate guy & I love people! I'm in a foster home with children as young as 8 years, other dogs & a cat, & I'm doing great! Before that, I had lived all my life with 3 other male beagles (also available for adoption) outside as a hunting dog. But as you can see from my photos, I love living in a home with people! I love the couch & sitting next to people, resting my head on your lap! Because I haven't been around young children, I will be placed in a home with older children (8-12 years) or no children. I need a home where I will have a securely fenced yard. I have been known to dig under a fence, so it needs to be secure. I will run off looking for bunnies to chase if I get loose. I've learned how to walk on a leash & I LOVE going for walks now! I've really adjusted well to living in a home. I'm already housetrained! Tip prefers to be around people, & so he needs a home where someone works from home or is retired. Also he has hypothyroidism & needs to take thyroid medicine. Please think about making Tip part of your family! Click on Tip's page to see a different photo of him. Tip is 8 years old & neutered. Tip LOVES the holidays! You can see more photos of Tip on his PetFinder page: https://www.petfinder.com/dog/tip-49980611/pa/west-decatur/nittany-beagle-rescue-pa98/
