Nittany Beagle Rescue - Benji

Hi! My name is Benji! I'm a 7-year old male beagle. I'm a very loving guy! I'm also friendly, although I get nervous in new situations. I love to hang out on the sofa with my people! I also love to go for long walks! I was crated a lot in my former home, & so I don't like the crate now. If I have to be confined, then it's better to baby gate me in the kitchen. I've lived with young children & I love to play with them! However, I'm pretty energetic & I can be too much for a young child. I had some health issues when I came into Nittany Beagle Rescue. But Nittany Beagle Rescue has had me to the vet, & it looks like I might have diabetes insipidus - that's the one where I'm thirsty all the time & I drink lots of water. It's treated by taking a pill (or eye drops) called desmopressin. I started my pills a little while ago & I'm responding really well! Desmopressin can be expensive, but if you use Good Rx or go to a pharmacy with a good discount program, the cost is very reasonable. (Nittany Beagle Rescue filled my prescription at the Weis Pharmacy & it is about $30 for a month worth.) It's possible I might need fewer pills even! I'm housetrained, but I've had a few accidents in my foster home - although that may be because we're still working on getting the right about of desmopressin into me. I'm already neutered & up-to-date on vaccines. I'm on the chubby side & could use a diet. More photos are coming soon! Please think about making me part of your family! You will be so happy you did!
