Bio at the Time of Adoption

Hi! My name is Dixie & I'm a 4.5 year-old female beagle. I'm a very sweet girl! I'm very loving & affectionate! I love to play ball! I also want to sleep in bed with my person at night. I'm an escape artist though! I can escape from a fenced yard & a tie out, & I will run away. I can squeeze my way out through small gaps; I will also dig my way out. I'm about 25 lbs, and quite low to the ground. I am afraid of new people & new situations - although I will get used to the new situation after a while. I'm less afraid of women than men. So it takes longer for me to get used to a man & not be afraid of him. I would do best in a calmer home where there isn't much going on. I've lived with children as young as 4 years, as well as other dogs & cats. However, the other animals should be calm (just like the people in the house). I will growl when other dogs approach my food, & so if I live with other dogs it's best to feed us separately. I'm housetrained & crate trained. When my former owner was at work, I roamed the house for 8 hours while she was at work, but when she got home, she took me out a lot. I do not give signs for when I need to go out. I'm already spayed & up-to-date on shots. I'm anxious to find my forever home! Are you it? Click on my page to see a different photo of me!
