Bio at the Time of Adoption

Hi! My name is Pete! I need a home because my person passed away. I'm a very affectionate guy & I love people! I've lived all my life with 3 other male beagles (also available for adoption) outside as a hunting dog. But I'm ready to come in & be part of a family! Because I haven't been around young children, I will be placed in a home with older children (8-12 years) or no children. I need a home where I will have a securely fenced yard. I have been known to dig under a fence, so it needs to be secure. I will run off looking for bunnies to chase if I get loose. I don't know how to walk on a leash, & so that is something I need to learn. Because I never went anywhere, I'm pretty timid in new situations. I will be neutered before being adopted. Because I've lived all my life outside, I will need work on housetraining & house manners. But I lived in a hutch in my old home, & so I have the idea about going outside vs. inside - so that is a very big start! Nittany Beagle Rescue can provide advice on housetraining & house manners - we actually find it easier to housetrain older dogs than puppies (older dogs focus better!). We need a foster home for Pete so he can start learning about living inside the home with the family. If you aren't ready to adopt, please think about fostering him!
