Bio at Adoption: Hi! My name is Auzzie! I'm a handsome male treeing walker coonhound! I'm all hound! I was born on 1/2/2023, so I'm only about 3 years old. I need a new home because my people have to move to take care of their aging parent & they can't take me with them. I'm young, so I've got some energy! I'm like to be active! Playing tug-of-war is loads of fun! I'm smart, too! I know how to open the screen door, so it's best to keep it locked if it's not fenced in! :) I'm housetrained & crate trained! I'll scratch at the door when I need to go outside. I LOVE my crate. I like to sleep in it at night. I'm good around other dogs, & I live with my brother, Arlo. Arlo also needs a new home, but we are totally fine with going to separate homes. I'm not good with cats, though. If you want to take me for walks on the leash, then I would need some work on leash training. But I'm a smart guy & I would get the hang of it! I'm a big boy! I weigh about 80 lbs. I'm very timid & so I need a home who can work with me to introduce me to new situations. I'm in a foster home now & I'm gaining a lot of confidence! I've learned about toys & I LOVE to play with them! But when I go to my forever home, I will probably be timid and skittish again. Since I'm like that, if I get lose, I'll probably run. Bio at Adoption: Hi! My name is Banjo! I'm about 2 years old & I'm a male mixed breed with some hound in me! So that makes me an honorary beagle! :) I'm very sweet & loving & I love to touch my people! I weigh about 50 lbs - but I'm very underweight. I should probably weigh 58-60 lbs. I've had it really tough lately. Something happened that I was choking - my eyes are red because of that. But they should get better over time. I'm housetrained & crate trained. I'm up-to-date on vaccines & will be neutered before I'm adopted. I like to bark! :) I came into NBR with my brother Bluey. But we will be placed in separate homes because we fight. (That happens sometimes with siblings, especially when they aren't altered). Nittany Beagle Rescue doesn't know how I am with other dogs. It's just too soon to tell, but they should know more once I have some time to decompress. But I could sure use a patient, kind home where someone will love me forever! Bio at Adoption: Hi! My name is Bella & I'm a 1.5 year old female tricolor beagle! I'm an active girl! I like to move & sniff! I'm also very loving & I adore attention! But I'm a beagle, so if I get loose, I'll run off! I've always lived outside in a pen, but I want to be part of a family and live in a home with my people! So I'll need work on housetraining and house manners - but I'm smart. I've never really had a chance to play with toys - but I'm anxious to find out about them! I'm a little thing! I only weigh about 20 lbs. I've been raised with children as young as 8, & I'm great with them! I haven't been raised around other dogs or cats, except for my sister Daisy who is also available for adoption. We want separate homes, though - it's that sibling rivalry thing, you know. I'm a little distant when I first meet people, but I'm friendly. It just takes me awhile to warm up to you! I do like to be petted! I weigh about 50 lbs - but I'm very underweight. Bio at Adoption: Updated 3/18/2026! Hi! My name is Calypso & I'm a 4 to 5 year old female beagle mix. I'm such a sweet little girl! I'm easygoing & so loving! I'm also very active! And playful! I like to play fetch & tug-of-war! I love stuffed toys! I love to play with other dogs & so I really need a home where I have a young, active dog who can keep up with me when we play! I can be a little bossy with other dogs, though. So my doggie playmate should probably be on the submissive side. I've also lived with young children & cats, & I do great with them. I'm a sensitive soul. I can be timid when I first meet you. I'm basically housetrained. I've been left alone for a few hours at a time & I've done great. I'm used to going outside about 4 times a day. I will go to the door, but my person needs to notice that I'm at the door. If you aren't watching, I might have an accident in the house. While I'm crate trained, I don't like the crate. I become quite frantic to get out of the crate. I'm perfect for someone who is home most of the time! I like to hang out on the furniture with my people. At night, I like to sleep in bed with my person, or on the floor in a dog bed. I ride well in the car! The best way to get me to do something is to offer a treat. I'm a beagle, so if you leave food on the end table, I'll probably eat it! LOL It's ok to use a firm voice every now & then - but I am sensitive so your voice shouldn't be loud. I would love to have a fenced in yard since I'm so active! Of course, I'm a young guy so I'll be full of energy for the next several years! I'm basically housetrained, although I might have an occasional accident (especially if my people are out for 8 hours or so). I'm used to going outside about every 4 hours. I'm fine overnight though. My mom is a beagle (for the most part!) but we don't know who my dad is - maybe springer spaniel?? The vet thinks I'll be about 30 lbs when full grown. But who knows! It's a guess at this point in my young life! I'm a happy & playful puppy! I'm also independent & confident! I'm in a foster home with other dogs & cats! I'm not housetrained or crate trained - so my forever home will need to work on that. I will be up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccines at the time of my adoption. My favorite things are going for long walks & meeting dogs & people! I'm very friendly with all the dogs I meet on my walks! My foster home takes me for lots of walks! I was pretty heavy when I came into Nittany Beagle Rescue. But I've lost a lot of weight since then! I've lost so much weight that now I can jump up onto my foster mom's lap! I love to sit next to you on the chair or your lap! I especially love to burrow my head under your shoulder! I just want to melt into you! I like to play, too, especially tug-of-war! I've got lots of puppy in me! I love zoomies! I could use training on manners still - I'll jump up on people because I'm so excited when I see them! I need work on housetraining also. I need a new home because my former owner's health is declining & she has so many dogs, that she couldn't take care of all of us. She wanted us to have a better life. On Aug. 10, 2025, I went outside for the 1st time & walked on grass. It was also the first time I wore a collar & had a leash on. Needless to say, I was pretty scared. Bio at Adoption: Hi! My name is Frank! I'm a 6-year old male tricolor beagle. I'm the sweetest & gentlest boy! I love being close to people & being petted! I'm fantastic with other dogs! I need a home with at least one other dog - preferably a beagle! Other dogs in the home help me feel more secure. I'm very good with cats also! I've been around young children & I'm very good with them - however, I need a quiet home. I like to visit with calm children! I love routine - so I need a home where we do the same thing every day! I spent the 1st 4 years of my life as a teaching beagle in a vet school. At one point I was kept in isolation for 3 weeks for a radiation oncology trial. When I left the vet school, I was on 3 different anti-anxiety medications. But now I'm down to just 1! I'm still overwhelmed by noise, large things & sudden movements. I will cower & jump really bad if there is a sudden noise. If I'm getting really anxious, I'll hang my head. My new people have to be very patient & loving. Change makes me nervous, so it may take awhile before I adjust to my new home. I'm in a NBR foster home now & having the other dogs in the home really helps! I'm housetrained - but not when I first go into a new home. (I was afraid to go outside the 1st few days in my foster home - but now I follow the other dogs & I'm fine!). I cannot be crated. I used to fall over when someone would put a leash on me, but my people worked with me & now I walk well on a leash! However, it's possible I'll regress a little when I go to a new home. A home with a nice size fenced in yard would be perfect for me! I'm already neutered & up-to-date on vaccines. I have some allergies, but cytopoint injections 2 times a year & being bathed with a medicated shampoo controls them! I probably need a dental, I'll have that done before I'm adopted. Bio at Adoption: 3/18/2026 Hi! My name is Fred! I'm a male tricolor beagle. I'm about 1 year old or so. I'm an active guy, as you might expect! I'm also calm & easygoing! I'll attach to a person quickly! I love to cuddle with my person! I lived with an 8-year old child for a little while, & I did great with her! I'm playful! I loved to play with the young teenager in my most recent home. I especially like to play with my bone. I'm housetrained! I'll nudge you when I need to go outside or I'll sit by the door. I love car rides! I'll jump right in! When I get on a scent, I really want to go with it. Sometimes I act up around other animals (like other dogs) - but sometimes I'm fine. I'm not good with cats, & I'm not good with some other dogs. So I might do best as the only animal in a home. I can be protective of my person around strangers. So I probably need a person who has some good dog skills. When I went to the vet recently, I had an ear infection. They hurt pretty bad, so the vet had to put a muzzle on me in in order to clean them. My ears are still pretty sensitive. I'm already up-to-date on vaccines & I'll be neutered before I'm adopted. Jimmy Lee

Bio at Adoption: Hi! My name is Jimmy Lee! I am the sweetest beagle boy!!! I'm very affectionate! I love ear rubs! I was surrendered to a veterinarian nearly 2 months ago because I couldn't use my 2 back legs! I had always lived as an outdoor dog & my old owner couldn't keep me anymore. But it turns out I had Lymes disease & Anaplasma. So the vet office treated me for that & now I can walk again! (It's possible I could have hurt my back also. The vet didn't really know). Check out my video of my progress as I recovered! I'm still a little wobbly on my back legs, but I'm doing really good overall! Anyways, the vet office contacted Nittany Beagle Rescue to see if they could find me a wonderful forever home, & here I am! I'm looking for my perfect forever home! I'm in a foster home with steps to the back yard, & so I'm getting good exercise going up & down the stair to the yard. I need to walk slowly on the steps because we don't know if my lameness was from the Lymes or a back injury. I'm not supposed to jump off of things either. All that being said, I'm doing great! BTW I LOVE SNOW!!! I also love stuffed toys. And I get along great with other dogs, cats & people! Even though I was an outdoor dog in my past life, I'm basically housetrained now! I will go to the door & whine when I need to go outside. When I go to a new home, I may need a little work on housetraining since it will be new for me. Boy, do I love living in a home with people & my doggie foster-siblings! I love to be on the couch & to snuggle in my blanket! Recently I started barking when I'm in a crate. I used to live in a barn. But I'm in a foster home now & I LOVE it! I LOVE attention! I like to talk & whine! LOL I'm used to living with other dogs - but I don't really care about playing with them. Bio at Adoption: UPDATED 1/19/2026! Hi! My name is Lacy & I'm a female tricolor beagle! I'm about 7 years old. I need a new home because my person wasn't able to care for me any longer. I might be 7, but I'm very active for my age! So I need a person who can keep up with me. I'm also playful! I like to play ball. I'm a very affectionate girl! I'm used to sitting with my person on the couch & sleeping in bed with him at night. I had a UTI when I came into Nittany Beagle Rescue - but I've taken my antibiotics & I feel much better now! I'm housetrained. I will go to the door when I need to go outside. I'm used to going outside every few hours during the day. I'm a runner though - if I get loose, I will take off & not necessarily come back. In fact, one of the times I got loose in my prior home, I was gone for 4 days & I ended up with an eye ulcer (probably from an injury to my eyes when I was running through the brush). But when I came into Nittany Beagle Rescue, they took me to the vet & I got eye meds for my eyes. They're all better now! Anyways ... it's critical that I be in a securely fenced in yard or on-leash when outside at all times. I've lived with other dogs & I do great with them! I've never been around cats. Bio at Adoption: Hi! My name is Melanie! I'm a 5-6 year old female tricolor beagle. I'm the sweetest little girl! I'm quite loving & affectionate! I only weigh about 20 lbs.! I'm active! I like to play ball! And I love to be outside to sniff everything! I ride great in a car! I'm quite friendly! I'm great with other animals (except rabbits!). I should be ok living with an older child, like 10 & older. But it's important the child treat me with respect. I was rescued by a very nice person about 2 months ago. At night, I like to sleep in a dog bed next to my person's bed. Before my person rescued me, I was living outside in a pen for the past couple of years. I do need work on housetraining. I will circle before I potty, but I don't make any sounds. So you have to watch me. I did not have a fenced yard in my prior home, & so I was exercised on-leash. During the day, I would forget to go potty on the leash because I just get so excited with all the smells & things going on outside. At night though, I'm pretty good about doing my business when outside. I'm not crate trained. (I will pee in the crate). I'm living in a boarding kennel now with a doggie door to the outside kennel. I also love to be loved! I am a lap dog! I love to sit on my person's lap & be close to them! I like to sleep under the covers with my person at night! I'm great with other dogs & cats! But I'm also fine being the only pet! I do get nervous if there's a lot going on. So I need a home where I can play with others & have lots of fun - but there's not too much going on in the home. Bio at Adoption: UPDATED PHOTOS 02/20/2026! Hi! My name is Onyx! I'm 9.5 years old female tricolor beagle. I'm such a sweet & easygoing girl! I'm very sociable, although I don't really like my picture taken. LOL I need a new home because my person died. I lived with Snoopy & Buster. We're all looking for a home, but we're totally fine going to separate homes. It's been a really, really tough past few months! Our person had to go to the hospital/rehab about 2.5 months ago, & so family would come & check on us about 3 times a day. Then our person passed away. So it's just been been really, really hard. I'm very loving & affectionate! I'm also attentive to my person. I'm a happy & confident girl! Our person used to have parties & lots of people would come & I was great! I loved all the attention when people would come! I used to sleep in bed with my person. I like to play with stuffed toys & make them squeak! :) I don't like it when the other dogs get into my food - which is totally fair! I will guard people eating from the other dogs. I'm housetrained. When I need to go outside, I will look at you, & I might paw you. With my person being gone so long, we all started having accidents in the house. So I may need a bit of a refresher on that. I know how to use a doggie door! I'm quite smart! I do have a partial ACL tear. But that doesn't stop me from doing anything! Sometimes I feel a little sore, & so I'll get some carprofen. Not all the time - I just need it occasionally. I will snap at the other dogs if they jump on my legs & they're hurting that day. But all in all, I'm a pretty laid back, easygoing dog! Pearl

Bio at Adoption: Hi! My name is Pearl! I'm an adorable female beagle mix puppy! I was born on Nov. 30, 2025. My mom is a beagle (for the most part!) but we don't know who my dad is - maybe springer spaniel?? The vet thinks I'll be about 30 lbs when full grown. But who knows! It's a guess at this point in my young life! I'm a loving & affectionate girl! I can be sensitive & reserved at times. At other times, I'm active & just a little demanding LOL! I'm in a foster home with other dogs & cats! I'm not housetrained or crate trained - so my forever home will need to work on that. I will be up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccines at the time of my adoption. My forever home will have me spayed at the age recommended by their vet (probably 6 months). Bio at Adoption: UPDATED 11/17/2025 Hi! My name is Pooter! I'm a 4-year old male beagle. I might be a mix - but who knows! I need a new home because my prior owner didn't want me anymore & left me with a family. But the mom is severely allergic to me! Oh no! The mom can't even pet me without having an allergic reaction! I'm such an affectionate fellow! I want a home where I can be petted all the time & loved! I'm such a friendly boy! I'm great with other dogs! I love to play with them! I'm good with cats & birds too! I love to play with my honky pig too! I love to be physically close to my people, & I really want to sleep under the covers with them! I do have some special needs though. I have an old fracture in my pelvis & another fracture in ky spine. So I walk a little wobbly. It's ok - I'm used to it. It shouldn't get any worse over time, except for normal aging. However because of the fractures, I can't control when I need to pee. I leak a little when I'm walking. When my bladder is full, it just releases. I can't help it. I can't control it because of the old fractures. Also, I will pee when I'm anxious or when I meet someone new. But once I know them, I'm fine. so I wear a belly band. I had bloodwork done at the vet & it came back all normal! So I'm a pretty healthy guy for the most part! I've been around children of all ages! I am housetrained, though! I'm a little guy - I'm under 20 lbs! I am up-to-date on vaccines & will be neutered soon! (I have a skin infection on my tail, so once that is cleared up, I can be neutered). Please think about giving me a forever home! I really need a kind understanding home! Bio at Adoption: UPDATED 2/4/2026 Hi! My name is Trixie! I'm an active & happy female beagle! I'm about 1 year old. I'm a live wire! I'm full of energy! I just love to move my body! I'm also affectionate & adorable! I love everyone! I'm a confident girl also. I've been exposed to other dogs & I've been good with them. I will chase cats - it's such a fun thing to do! I was living in a kennel before I came to Nittany Beagle Rescue. So we don't know if I'm housetrained. But I know how to use a doggie door & I know to potty in the outer kennel - which is the 1st step in becoming housetrained! When I ride in the car, I've been crated. I will take off if I get lose - so you have to make sure doors are secure so I don't slip out! I weigh about 25 lbs. We don't know if I've been around children, & so I will be placed in a home with no children or a home with children who know how to properly treat a dog (about 8 years of age or older). Bio at Adoption: UPDATED 1/11/2026! Hi! My name is Wynnie! I'm a super sweet 7-year old female hound mix! I'm such a silly girl! I love to be a goof! I like to touch you with my paw (check out the photo of me doing that on my page!) I love to sleep on the couch! And I really love to cuddle up against someone (like another dog - but I'll be happy to cuddle up against my person!). I walk really well on a leash too! Check me out walking on the leash in my video on my PetFinder page! I'm so very affectionate & loving! I'm also very playful! I like to play ball! I also love to roll in the grass! I'm great with children - as you can see in one of my photos! I don't realize how tall I am & I can push small children over without meaning to. So I would be fine with children 10 years & older. But if the children are tough & don't mind being pushed over, children 6 & older should be fine! As you can see from my photos on my PetFinder page, I'm great with other dogs! Before I came to Nittany Beagle Rescue, I lived outside as a hunting dog. But I'd much rather hang out on a couch! I've been living in a foster home since August & I've adjusted great! I'm very smart & I learn quickly! I'm very long legged - sort of like a small gazelle! :) I can reach the kitchen counter & I will get into stuff. I can help you stay motivated to clean out the sink & put the dishes away! LOL I'm housetrained & crate trained. I ride great in a car! I just relax & go to sleep! I weigh about 45 lbs.
