ApolloHi! My name is Apollo! I'm a 3-year old male tricolor beagle. I'm a happy, independent little whippersnapper! I've got tons of energy! I can easily climb a chain link fence & get over it. So if I go to a home with a fenced yard, it needs to be something I can't climb over - or go under! I'm learning how to walk on a leash at Nittany Beagle Rescue. I think I'll catch on pretty quick! I've been around children who are 7 and 11 years old now & I'm good with them. I'm dominant with other dogs. I would be happiest if I was the only dog! I would just LOVE the one-on-one attention with my people! Nittany Beagle Rescue isn't sure how I would be with cats. Of course, I need to be in a securely fenced in yard or on-leash at all times when outside since I'll take off - as will most beagles! :) And I can be pretty vocal when I want to be LOL I will need work on housetraining & house manners since that will be new to me! But Nittany Beagle Rescue can provide some guidance on housetraining an adult dog. So I just need a loving, patient person to give me a forever home! I should be crate trained since I'm used to traveling in a crate. I'm up-to-date on vaccines & neutered! So I'm ready for my forever home! I weigh about 20 lbs. - but I could gain a couple of lbs. BenjiUPDATED 3/20/2026 Hi! My name is Benji! I'm a super friendly 8-year old male beagle. I'm a happy pup! I'm a very loving guy! I love to hang out on the sofa with my people! I also love to go for long walks! I was crated a lot in my former home, & so I don't like the crate now. If I have to be confined, then it's better to baby gate me in the kitchen. I've lived with young children & I love to play with them! When I came into Nittany Beagle Rescue, I drank excessively. Nittany Beagle Rescue took me to the vet & it turns out I have Cushings. I'm on meds for that & they work great! I don't drink excessively at all anymore! The meds for that are $93/month through Chewy. I got a little chunky & I'm on a diet. Once I loose more weight, the cost of my Cushings meds should decrease. I'm housetrained. I usually go outside about 3 times a days. I've lived with another dog & I did ok. I'm great with cats! I'm already neutered & up-to-date on vaccines. Please think about making me part of your family! I've been waiting quite awhile for my forever home to come along! BentleyUPDATED 06/3/2026 Hi! My name is Bentley! I'm a 7-year old male tricolor beagle. I'm a very special guy & I need a special home! I'm a very loving dog! I love to sleep & cuddle! I love to be petted! I'm also active! I like to walk! I want to sleep in bed with you at night! But I'm also pretty insecure. I really need to be close to my person. I'm housetrained, & I'm used to going outside 3-4 times a day. I'll scratch at the door or beg to let you know I need to go outside. I'm not crate trained & I don't like the crate at all. I get worked up when people try to leave me - even if you just want to leave the room. But you just have to firmly tell me to go to my place. In the past, I've tried to block the path & nip/bite at the person leaving. But I'm not doing that in my current foster home. The structure of my current foster home works well for me. I live with 1 person (a woman) & 2 other dogs. So it's a very quiet low-key home. I need that - some place quiet & not much activity. I really need a patient person who can work with me, & has good dog skills. I would do best in home with one person who is home all or most of the time - but if you have to go to work, I understand. I can handle it. I'm fine with cats & other dogs. However, I don't do that well with bigger, more dominant dogs - they intimidate me! But I'm fine with dogs my size & smaller, & bigger dogs that don't try to boss me around. I also don't like anyone messing with my food. I'm sure you understand ... I mean it's my food & you know how beagles are about their food. I'm fine when I go to the groomers, although I will howl when you turn the blow dryer on! I weigh about 30 lbs. But I'm also a very young beagle with puppy energy! I used to belong to a hunter, but he didn't want me anymore. I lived in a pen back then. I ended up with Nittany Beagle Rescue & I'm living in a foster home, learning about housetraining & house manners. I love living in a home! Buford & SmokeyUPDATED 4/17/2026 Hi! We're Buford & Smokey! We're 12-13 year old beagle mix brothers. We're very bonded & we need a new home together because our person became ill & was no longer able to care for us. We're gentle & affectionate boys! We love to cuddle & be touched! We're so loving, & we're wonderful companions to each other & our person! We're happy boys & quite sociable & friendly! We like to play tug-of-war, & we really enjoy being outside during the day, playing & hanging out in a fenced in back yard. We're also easygoing. We're used to hanging out on the couch with our person & sleeping in bed with them at night. We've been around teenagers & do fine with them. We're used to going outside 5 times a day. We'll let you know we need to go outside by making small barks and/or excitement around the door. We're afraid of lightning & thunderstorms. We've lost a lot of weight since coming into NBR! Buford weighs about 50 lbs & Smokey weighs about 65 lbs. We're not overweight, though! We're just bigger boned! :) We eat turkey & venison (beef & chicken dog food don't really agree with us). BunnyUPDATED 7/16/2026 Hi! My name is Bunny! I'm a 2-year old female beagle! Officially, I'm a tricolor beagle, but my coloring is more liver & white. I'm very striking! I'm a very friendly & energetic girl when I'm around women! But I'm very timid & shy around some men & energetic children. So Nittany Beagle Rescue is thinking a home with women, or a calm home with a woman & a man, and only older calm children (12 years & older) would be best for me. I'm great with other dogs. I'm in a temporary foster home now with other dogs & I'm having a blast playing with them! I used to be chained to an old steel drum lying on it's side with the bottom cut out. That's where I went when the weather was bad. But then I went to Nittany Beagle Rescue. I'm learning about housetraining & house manners in my foster home. I'm doing great! ChubbsHi! My name is Chubbs! I'm a 7-8 year old male beagle mix. I'm a very friendly guy! I was in a shelter for nearly 5 months! But no one wanted to give me a forever home! :( So the shelter asked Nittany Beagle Rescue to take me & here I am! All the volunteers at NBR love me! I love to go for walks & sniff! I also love attention! So I will be a great buddy to hang out on the couch with my person! I used to live with other dogs & I did fine with them. I also lived with cats & children. I ride really well in a car! I used to live in a house, but I may need some refresher work on housetraining since I've been in a shelter so long. I weighed 31.5 pounds on June 12, 2026. So I'll probably grow up to a healthy weight of 35 pounds. I'm a very sweet & cuddly girl, & I'm good with the other dogs in my foster home! If you would like to track Hank's progress, we will update his description with periodic Progress Reports! Hank was found and was trapped after 1 month on the run! He is back in his NBR foster home. Hi! My name is Hank! I'm about 3 years old. A local shelter brought me up from a shelter in West Virginia where I was going to be euthanized. I'm fantastic with dogs! I love to be around dogs. But I'm a very timid guy with people. I used to be afraid to be touched. The folks at the shelter thought that I had been abused. I used to be really afraid of leashes. (The folks at the shelter thought I had been beaten with a leash). Anyways, the shelter transferred me to Nittany Beagle Rescue. So here I am! The folks at NBR are working with me to become less timid and afraid. I'm really making great progress! I'm in a foster home now - new photos are coming soon! I need a home where the people can work with me slowly and gently. I would probably do best in a quiet, low-key home. A home with another dog would be best. The other dog will make me feel secure. I will run away if scared, and so precautions are needed to make sure I don't run out the door, or slip my collar. Walking me with 2 leashes on 2 collars is best for quite some time. A home with a securely fenced yard is desirable. It is important there not be any gaps in the fence or under the fence. Most of all, I need a person who has experience with dogs like me. If you were following me on social media while I was lost, you know I am terrified of people & will not come near a person, even if I know them. I am working on housetraining and house manners in my foster home. I weigh about 30 lbs. I may sound like a lot, but I am so worth it! Please think about making me part of your family! JessieUPDATED 8/12/2026 Hi! My name is Jessie! I'm a 5-year old male tricolor beagle! I'm a sweet, easy-going guy! I love to sniff in the backyard. I used to be chained to an old steel drum lying on it's side with the bottom cut out. That's where I went when the weather was bad. But then I went to Nittany Beagle Rescue. I'm in a foster home now, & I LOVE it! I'm still timid, but I'm making progress! This is still pretty new to me! I'm timid of bigger men - I bark at them. Although I do like my foster dad! He's the best! I like to collect things! LOL Rugs, blankets, shoes, stuffed toys - whatever suits my fancy! I'll take it to a space & drop it - or but it in my crate! My foster mom says I'm hilarious! I like to play! I like my foster mom to throw the ball so I can go get it. I like to run around, especially in the morning. So I'm a morning dog! I've been around my foster mom's 2-year old grandchild & I'm excellent with her! We follow each other around the house. I love my crate. The door is always open & I go hang out in it. My crate has a big , fluffy dog bed in it & I really like it! I laid on the couch for the 1st time on Aug. 6th! I really liked it! :) When no one is home, I need to be crated or else I get into stuff. I'm nearly housetrained, but it's best to crate me overnight since I might mark. As I get used to living in a home, my foster mom thinks it won't be necessary to crate me overnight. I would love a fenced in yard! I love to lounge on the outdoor furniture. I get along great with other dogs. But I don't like it when the other dogs are loud. I'll go into another room when they are all barking. But I don't mind it when children are loud! I'm totally OK with that! I'm a very low maintenance type of dog! I walk well on a leash! And I ride great in a car! I just lay on the back seat. Although I do like to roll in things! Leo & BellaHi! We're Leo & Bella! We a bonded pair of 10 year old beagles. We're a very sweet! We need a new home because our original owners couldn't keep us any longer & gave us to a family to keep us temporarily. So we're looking for our forever home! We're good with other dogs & cats! We're around a 6-year old and 8-year old children, plus a newborn in our temporary home. We do great with all of them! Bella is a happy girl while Leo tends to be quiet. MochiHi! My name is Mochi! I'm a lovable, very energetic 6-7 year old female beagle mix! I love to play tug-of-war! I'm a friendly, very affectionate girl! I love to have my belly rubbed! I like to be cuddled & sit on my person's lap! I like to sleep in bed with my person! When I'm chilly, I like to sleep cuddled up against my person's legs! I love being talked to with an upbeat excited voice! I'm active & playful, & I really need someone who can get me the exercise I need! I'm housetrained for the most part, although I might have an accident a few times a month. I'm used to going outside 5 to 6 times a day. I don't really tell you when I need to go outside. So I would do best in a home with a fenced yard - that way I can get the exercise I need & go out a lot! I'm crate trained, although I'll whimper in the crate if I know you're there. ShermanUPDATED 7/26/2026 Hi! My name is Sherman! I'm a male fox terrier mix puppy! My mom is a fox terrier. My dad is supposed to be a beagle - but who knows! The vet thinks I was born on 12/18/2025. I weighed 35 pounds on July 23, 2026. So I'm probably at my healthy adult weight now. I'm a very sweet & cuddly boy! I'm a busy boy who loves to play! My foster mom says I'm as goofy as can be! :) I love to play in water! Check out my video of me playing in water! I adore other dogs! I will need to go to a home with at least one other dog. ZivaHi! My name is Ziva, & I'm a beautiful 3.5 year old female beagle mix! I'm a very energetic girl! I love to play with other dogs! Playing tag is the best! But I'm also on the insecure side & I can be quite sensitive. I just really need a family who will show me love and kindness. I'm not great with cats. But I'm great with the other dogs in my foster home. I love to play with them! However, I can be protective of my crate when I'm in it & of my favorite spot when I need to get away from it all - but just with the other animals. I'm always great with people! I'm a beagle & so if I get loose, I'll run off. I'm housetrained. I will go to the door & give a little bark or pace until someone lets me outside. When I was younger, I was crated a lot & so now I'm just crated when absolutely necessary. I'm used to someone usually being home, & so it's hard to say how I would be if someone was out all day for work. I'm used to having a fenced in back yard & I just love it! I will howl at people passing by - after all, I am a beagle! I especially love women! I can be a little dismissive of men. LOL I'm up-to-date on vaccines & spayed. I weigh about 38 lbs.
