Our Beagles!

Instructions on how to adopt a beagle from Nittany Beagle Rescue and the adoption application form can be found on the Adopt a Beagle page.

Albert (the dog formerly known as Tucker)

Meet Albert! He used to be called Tucker, but his foster family thinks Albert is a more fitting name! Albert was surrendered to an area shelter because his person moved, but Nittany Beagle Rescue was able to take him. Albert is very affectionate. He's quite lively! He loves treats & he will sit for a treat. In one photo, a person is holding a treat for him & he would love to have it! Albert is good with children & other dogs (although big dogs scare him). He rides really well in a car. Albert is housetrained and is excellent in a crate. However, he does have some accidents that can be solved by him wearing a belly band. Albert goes all night without having an accident & he sleeps in the crate at night. Albert is a little guy - he only weighs about 22 lbs. Because he's an older fellow, he won't be placed in a home with young children. Albert is up-to-date on vaccines & neutered. Please give Albert his forever home! Beth Ann

Hi! My name is Beth Ann & I'm a very sweet beagle/whippet mix. I'm about 6 or 7 years old. I am very affectionate & loving! I'm very good with children of all ages. I've lived with a cat & another dog, & got along fine with them. Nittany Beagle Rescue is working on helping me gain some weight. I originally came from a place where they might have been abusive. So I need a home where the people are gentle and don't raise their voices. I lived in a home for the past 6 months, & I like to hang out on the couch with my people. At night, I sleep either in bed with my people or on a dog bed in the bedroom. I am partially housetrained, & I need a family who can work with me 1-on-1 to help me become fully housetrained. In order for me to become fully housetrained, I may need to be walked on a leash rather than let out in a backyard. Right now I weigh 27 lbs. Beth Ann is up-to-date on vaccines & will be spayed before she is adopted. She is living in a boarding kennel right now & is anxious to meet her forever family! Hi! My name is Daisy, & I'm a 6-year old beagle/English bulldog! I'm adorable & very loving! I weigh about 50 lbs & I'm about the same height as a bigger beagle. I'm playful & love to play tug-of-war. I LOVE stuffed toys! The way I figure, all the stuffed toys that I can get belong to me! I like to play "keep away" with the other dogs in my foster home - but they understand that I get the toys in the end. I love living with another dog or 2, but I'm alpha dog in the family. In fact, I would probably do best in a home with another dog since I like having company. I'm calm & laid back. I walk well on a leash & love car rides. I'm excellent with new people when I'm on a walk. I love to be petted & to get lots of attention! I've been around young children & I'm good with them, but I may jump on them. I'm a great dog to take to the nursing home to visit residents since I have such a sweet demeanor! However, I can be protective of my home, & you have to take your time introducing new people to me when I'm in my home. Because I'm protective of my home, & possessive of my toys, I need a home without children since children usually have friends come to visit. We don't know how Daisy is with cats. Daisy is housetrained & crate trained. Daisy barks a lot, but she might be fine in an apartment if she can't see out the window. Daisy is already spayed & up-to-date on shots. Please think about making Daisy part of your family! Click on her page to see another photo of Daisy.

Gray Boy

Hi! My name is Gray Boy! I am a very friendly male beagle mix! I am staying in a foster home & I'm great with the other dogs & cats that live there! I am such a sweetheart! I am very gentle! I love to play in water! I am already neutered & up-to-date on vaccines. At some point, someone was very mean to Gray Boy & tied or taped his mouth shut. You can see the scars around Gray Boy's muzzle. Gray Boy is housetrained & crate trained. Gray Boy was originally a stray, so Nittany Beagle Rescue will place him in a home with older children or no children (as a precaution since we don't know how he is with young children). He does fine with the cats in his foster home, although he will chase them sometimes. Gray Boy is a dominant dog, and so he will be placed in a home with no dogs or only submissive dogs; also he is possessive with his food around other dogs. Gray Boy is probably about 8 years old, and weighs about 30 lbs. Click on Gray Boy's page to see a different photo of him!

Hi! My name is Lady & I'm a very sweet 10 year old female beagle. I'm very affectionate & loving! I'm also a happy & easygoing girl. I am active & playful, & I like to play fetch & tug-of-war. I love to chew up tennis balls! (I may growl when you take my toy - but I'm not aggressive at all). Lady is a sensitive soul. She was not been raised around children, & since she is older, a home with all adults or teenagers would be best. Lady is housetrained, & used to going outside 3 times a day. Lady will bark at the door to let you know when she needs to go outside. Lady was raised as a hunter, so it's important that she not get loose outside. Lady will chase cats, and she loves having all the attention, so she would do best as the only dog in a home. Also, she should be fine if she lived with other dogs, as long as she is the dominant dog. At night, Lady will sleep somewhere in the house - maybe in bed, or maybe on the sofa. The best way to get Lady to listen is to praise her & offer treats. Please think about making Lady part of your family! She is about 25 lbs. & will fit right in! Hi! My name is Louis, but my friends call me Louie! I'm an easygoing male beagle. I'm a very friendly boy! I love people! I'm an older fellow. I need a new home because my owner went into a nursing home. I'm quiet for a beagle. I'm also pretty independent, so I may not listen to you if you give me a command. I get along with other dogs & cats. I haven't been raised with children, but I really like the children that visit me when Nittany Beagle Rescue shows me at Petco in State College. Because I'm older, I will be placed in a home no children or where children are old enough to know how to treat me properly. I am housetrained, but my prior owner would forget to let me outside, so I have accidents in the house sometimes. I'm in a foster home now, & they are giving me a refresher on housetraining. I'm a good size beagle - about 35 lbs. I ride well in a car. I'm already neutered & up-to-date on vaccines. . Please make me part of your family! You'll be glad you did! Nancy Anne

Hi! My name is Nancy Anne & I'm the sweetest girl! I'm about 7 years old & I'm probably a beagle mix. I'm a mild mannered girl & I love to be with my people! I'm very sensitive to my person's needs. I also love to cuddle & to be brushed! I also love toys! I've had a very rough life! I was abused & neglected earlier in my life. I was starved & now I tend to eat too much. (I'm on a diet now). In my prior life, I was kept in a dog box outside with no insulation. Also, I was hit by a tractor & tailor when I was young, & so my nasal cavity is messed up. When I breath heavy it sounds like I'm growling, but it's just my nasal cavity. Nancy Anne has been exposed to children & was good with them when they visited. Nancy Anne has had such a hard life! She would love to be the only dog so she can get lots of attention. We think a home where she can lean against her person & be petted & brushed & loved would be perfect for her! She seems to be fine with cats. On walks she seems fine with small dogs, but bigger dogs scare her. She is housetrained & spayed. At the vet's office, she didn't like it when they lifted her to the table & restrained her. So it's possible Nancy Anne doesn't like to be lifted or cornered. Nancy Anne is sometimes possessive over her food, which is natural for a dog who has been starved. Please think about making Nancy Anne part of your family! She is living in a boarding kennel & desperately needs a home! Click on her page to see another photo of her.

Peanut & Maggie

Meet Peanut & Maggie! Maggie is Peanut's mom & she has the red collar, while Peanut has the blue collar. Peanut has always lived with Maggie, & we want to place them together. Both Maggie & Peanut are very affectionate & happy dogs! They are also very friendly & outgoing! Peanut is an active & playful boy, while Maggie prefers to hang out on the couch! Peanut is also easy going. They have lived with a cat & did fine with the cat. They've also been around children of all ages. Maggie will let you know when she needs to go outside by coming to you or she may bark. Both Maggie & Peanut like to play tug of war. Peanut also likes to play fetch & ball! Peanut would prefer to sleep in bed with you at night, while Maggie is content to sleep close by. They ride really well in a car. Both dogs are housetrained, although Peanut might have an occasional accident. Also both are crate trained. If Maggie & Peanut get lose, they will take off. Maggie, especially, will just keep on going. So it is critical that they be in a securely fenced back yard or on leash when outside. Maggie is already spayed & Peanut will be neutered before he is adopted. Maggie is 10 years old & Peanut is 7. They are currently living in a boarding kennel & desperately need a home. Please think about making room in your heart & home for these two very sweet dogs! Better pictures are coming soon.

Stella & Maggie

Stella & Maggie are two very sweet 8-year old beagle girls! These two girls were surrendered to an area shelter because their person passed away, but Nittany Beagle Rescue was able to take them. Stella and Maggie are very bonded and will be placed together. (Maggie is the heavier one with spots). They are good with other dogs and children. Stella loves to sit on your lap & could spend the entire day there! They are getting a refresher course on housetraining in their foster home. They will run off if they get lose, so they need to be secure when outside. Please think about giving these two wonderful girls a home! They are spayed and up-to-date on vaccines.
