Adopted Beagles, 2017

Bio at Adoption: Hi! My name is Bella & I'm a 3-year old beagle. I'm an outgoing & friendly girl! I'm affectionate & I like to hang out on the furniture with my person. Sometimes I'll sit on your lap! I like to play tug-of war! I've lived with another dog & did great! Also, I'm great with children! I've lived with children as young as 7 years, & a sometimes 4-year old would visit. However, I will run out the door, & I do not come when called (like a typical beagle). So I need a home where doors are kept securely shut, & aren't held open for long. I go to my crate when I'm feeling scared or timid. I get skittish if I think I'm in trouble. I haven't had much experience riding in a car, but when Nittany Beagle Rescue picked me up, I rode in a crate on the back seat & was good (although I paced some).I haven't been around cats, but I'm such a good natured girl, I'm probably fine with them. I am housetrained. Sometimes I'll ring a bell on the door when I need to go out. (I come with my own bell!) Other times, I may get on my person's lap & kiss your face if I have to go outside. I also have accidents in my crate - but not all the time. So I need a home where people are home a lot so they can patiently work with me on housetraining. I probably need multiple long walks (longer than 20 minutes) each day or free access to a securely fenced in back yard in order to be housetrained. I am spayed & up-to-date on shots. Bio at Adoption: Hi! My name is Bongo! I'm a very sweet & friendly male tricolor beagle. I'm an affectionate & easygoing boy! I'm great with other dogs & cats. I've been around children as young as 2 years old, & I'm very gentle with them! I would do better in a home with other dogs. I like to play ball. I love to snuggle beside my person on the coach and easy chair. At night, I like to sleep with my person. I'm fine in the car, & I've always been crated when traveling in the past. I'm excellent on the "sit" and "wait" commands! I'm a sensitive soul & was probably abused in the past. So please don't raise your voice or lift your hand at me. It's important to remember that it may take awhile for me to become used to my new home. (In my prior home, I hid behind the couch for a week, other than to eat, drink or go outside). I'm about 7 years old & already neutered. I am housetrained, however, I will have accidents. I need to go out about every 4-5 hours, although I will use puppy pads if you put them out for me. I will whine or bark when I need to go outside - but I may not do that until I feel comfortable in my new home. I need a special family who can help me adjust to my new home, & who will be patient with my housetraining issues. Are you my special family? Click on my page to see another photo of me! I'm adorable!

Bio at Adoption: Hi! My name is Bonita & I'm a very sweet 4-year old female beagle! Everyone calls me Bo, for short! I'm on the small size - probably about 20 lbs. or so. I love people! I'm a gentle girl! I love to cuddle in bed with my person! I'm also a quiet beagle. If you have a fenced yard, I would love to run around it! But if you don't, that's ok. I'm happy to just walk on a leash with my person! Bo has been around other dogs, and is fine with them for the most part. However, she seems to be dominant with other dogs, and may do best as an only dog. She has been around cats to a limited extent & seems to be fine with them. Bo has been around children as young as 4 years old & is quite gentle with them. However, she wasn't raised around young children & can be skittish with them at first, so at this point, Nittany Beagle Rescue will place Bo in a home with children 10 and older. She is also pushy with food & would probably grab food from a young child's hands if they were walking around with it. Bo lived most of her life in a dog pen, & so she needs some work on developing house manners. She has spent the past several months in a home with a doggie door, & she seems to be housetrained. Bo is spayed & up-to-date on shots & microchipped. Bo is living in a boarding kennel & is anxious to find her forever home! Click on Bo's page to see a different photo of her!

Bio at Adoption: Hi! My name Brantley, & I'm a beautiful male beagle! I'm 2 years old, so I'm full of energy & quite rambunctious! I need to run, & so I need a family with a fenced yard or a family with someone who would run with me everyday (on-leash). I'm also love to play ball! I also like to play fetch & tug-of-war. I really want to please my people. I'm good with other dogs & cats, although I'm not good with rabbits, chickens, ferrets, or snakes. I am a hunter, so I must be on-leash or in a securely fenced area when outside. When I'm in the house, I like to lay on top of the furniture & look outside the window. I've lived with children aged as young as 5 years of age, & I'm great with them! I like to sleep in bed with my person at night. I am housetrained! I may need a little reinforcement on housetraining when I go to my forever home since it will be a new situation. I'm not crate trained, but you can separate me into a kitchen area with a babygate. I will bark when I'm left alone, so I need to live in a house where there is some space between neighbors. I am neutered, up-to-date on shots & microchipped. Please think about making me part of your family! I am a great dog! Click on my page to see a different photo of me! I'm a beautiful red & white beagle (with a little black).

Bio at Adoption: This sweet boy needs a new home! Cabela is a 7-year old male tricolor beagle. He only weighs about 25 lbs. Cabela is an active & affectionate boy! He is very friendly and playful! Cabela loves to play tug-of-war! He is a great companion & likes to sleep in bed with you at night. But he will sleep in a dog bed in the bedroom if you don't want him in bed with you. Also, Cabela is housetrained, neutered and up-to-date on shots! Cabela is good with other dogs & cats. He does not do well with young children, but he has always been fine with older children when on walks. To be on the safe side, Nittany Beagle Rescue won't place Cabela in a home with children younger than 10-12. Cabela can be crated for short periods of time (up to about 2 hours) - he becomes anxious after that. His former owners crated him when riding in the car, but he will probably be fine in a doggie seatbelt in the back seat. Please think about giving Cabela a home! Click on Cabela's page to see another photo of this handsome boy!

Bio at Adoption: Hi! My name is Colin & I'm an outgoing male beagle! (I'm named after Colin Firth!) I'm an older fellow & I'm just so loving & sweet! I love to play ball & fetch & keep away! I love to play with my toys! Colin enjoys playing with other dogs, & so a home with other dogs would make Colin very happy! Colin is also very good with cats. Colin would do better in a home without young children (under 5 years), but he should be fine with older children (say 8 & older). Colin likes to sleep in bed with his person at night. Colin has had some major dental work, and now doesn't have any teeth now. So he needs softer food (or small bites). Colin is housetrained - he'll pace when he needs to go outside. But sometimes he will have an accident in the house. Colin is neutered & up-to-date on shots. Click on Colin's page to see another photo of him!

Bio at Adoption: This is a COURTESY POST. Hi! My name is Droopers, & I'm a wonderful male beagle/basset mix. I'm an older guy. I need a new home because my prior owner was no longer healthy enough to take care of me. I've been around other dogs & cats, & I got along great with them! I can be a little curmudgeonly (especially when you're trying to clean my ears or clip my toenails). I would do best in a home with people who know how to handle a sometimes curmudgeonly soul - such as a home with no children or teens. However, I should be fine when young grandchildren come to visit, as long as they know how to properly treat a dog. Please don't hug me - I don't like it. I'm housetrained & crate trained. I'll howl after I've been alone for about 4 hours. So I need a home where someone isn't gone more than 4 hours at a time. Please give me a home where I can love my person! I'm a wonderful companion! Click on Droopers' page to see another photo of him! I'm available for adoption through Centre County PAWS. For more information, please call 814-237-8722 Select #2, or email:

Jim, the Beagle

Bio at Adoption: Hi! My name is Jim, & I'm a very sweet red & while beagle! I'm a very gentle, relaxed sort of guy! I need a new home because my elderly person was no longer able to care for me. I've had a rough time of it lately since my owner went into a nursing home - I really want a person I can love & who will love me back! I'm good with other dogs. Also, I've been exposed to children & I'm good with them! I can be a little skittish though. I'm probably about 7 years old. I was a stray when my prior owner adopted me & I was in really rough shape back then. I look much better now! But I really need a home! I ride really well in a car! I am housetrained, although I was having accidents when I lived with my prior owner. So I may need a little work on that. Please think about making me part of your family! Click on Jim's page to see a different photo of him!

Bio at Adoption: Hi! My name is Larry & I'm an adorable male tricolor beagle. I'm just a tiny guy! I only weigh about 20 lbs. I was originally a stray, and was on my own for several months. However, a kind family brought be in & now I'm looking for a family to call my own! I was treated cruelly & am skittish, & so I need a calm, relatively quiet home where people are gentle with me. I love to cuddle & will sit on my person's lap when they are sitting down. I also like to be held. The vet thought I was 3 to 5 years old, but Nittany Beagle Rescue thinks I'm about 2 or 3 years old. I am excellent with other dogs! However, I can be pushy with food around other dogs & will try to eat their's - so it's best to feed me separately from other dogs. I will be neutered before I'm adopted. I need work on housetraining. Please think about giving me my forever home! I am living in a kennel right now, & looking forward to meeting my new family! Click on my page to see another photo of me!

Maggie May

Bio at Adoption: Maggie May is a sweet female beagle looking for people to shower with love and affection. You can call her Maggie for short. She just turned 8 years old and, after spending her whole life outdoors being used to produce litters of puppies for sale, she is ready and eager for a home of her own. Maggie is gentle and calm with everyone she meets and just needs a little time and patience from her new person as she figures out her suddenly expanded world. She is coming along well with house training but isn't perfect yet, which is understandable for a girl who has spent so many years living in a raised outside hutch. Fortunately, she was not cruelly treated, and so is not fearful. She is just excited to learn and very happy to be out in the world beginning her own new life after having so faithfully cared for her many puppies over the years. Now it's her turn to get a home! As a full bred beagle, of course she follows her nose, needing to be always on leash when walking and ideally have a securely fenced yard at home. She is great with other dogs and loves their company. Her coat is silky soft and she is a perfect size at about 23 pounds. She has been spayed, fully vetted and micro-chipped, is crate trained and walks on leash very well considering her lack of experience with it. Maggie is a low to moderate energy lady who just wants to hang out with you, share a cuddle and a stroll. She hopes you'll consider adopting her! A better photo of Maggie is coming soon!

Bio at Adoption: Hi! My name is Missy, & I'm a very sweet senior female beagle! I need a new home ASAP because my owner could no longer take care of me, and now I'm living in a boarding kennel. So if you can't adopt me, please think about fostering me! Living in a kennel is no place for an older gal like me! I've got a little arthritis, & so I really need to move to a home with a nice comfy dog bed. I'm affectionate & loving. I love to hang out with my people! I've been around children & I'm fine with them. I've also been around other dogs & cats, & I'm fine with them. In fact, I just ignore them. I ride well in a car (after I settle down). I bark when I need to go outside. However, I have some housetraining issues, so my new family will need to work with me on that. Also, I'm not spayed due to the vet's recommendation. Please give me a home! I desperately need one! Click on Missy page to see another photo of her!

Bio at Adoption: Hi! My name is Punky, & I'm a very sweet 2-year old male fox beagle. (Fox beagles are bred to hunt foxes & coyotes instead of rabbits). I was raised as a hunting dog & love to run - so it's important that I be on-leash or in a fenced area when outside. I also love to be with people & I'm very affectionate! I am a real lapdog! My prior owner was a hunter & he surrendered me because I really want to live in a house with a person. Except for 1 week, I've lived my entire life in a kennel. During that week I lived inside, I got to sleep in bed with my person. I loved it! I want to be part of a family & cuddle with my people on the couch & in bed at night! Because I've spent nearly my entire live in a kennel, I will need work on housetraining & house manners. But I'm really smart & I should learn quickly! I ride really well in a car! Also, I walk well on a leash! Please give me a chance & make me part of your family! Punky is living in a kennel right now, so he is looking for a temporary foster home as well as his forever adoptive home! Punky is up-to-date on shots & will be neutered before being adopted. Click on Punky's page to see a different photo of him.

Bio at Adoption: Hi! My name is Ralph, & I'm a very sweet 3-year old male beagle. I'm very affectionate & I love to snuggle with my people! I need a home with other dogs - they help me feel secure. I'm an easy-going fellow. I'm not big on playing - I would much rather cuddle instead! I'm also excellent with the cat in the house. I've been around children as young as 3 years of age, & I basically ignore them. I am housetrained, but I will have accidents sometimes. I drink a lot of water (the vet said that's ok), but I do need to go outside 3-4 times/day. I will walk to the door when I need to go outside. I am crate trained, and I like my crate. (The longest I've been crated is 4 hours). I am afraid of strangers at 1st, but I warm up after 10-20 minutes. I like to sleep in bed with my person at night, & I like to be hang out on the couch. Ralph is neutered and up-to-date on shots. He needs a new home because his family can't commit time to him. Click on Ralph's page to see another photo of him!

Bio at Adoption: Hi! My name is Skip & I'm a 2-year old male beagle! I am very affectionate with people & I seem to get along with other dogs. I am cratetrained. I may need a little work on housetraining, but I'm a quick learner! I am up-to-date on vaccines & will be neutered before I'm adopted. I'm new to Nittany Beagle Rescue & as they learn more about me, they will post it. I'm living in a boarding kennel & am anxious to be in a home! Better photos of me are coming soon!

Bio at Adoption: This is a COURTESY POST. Hi! My name is Sweetie! I'm about 8 years old, & I'm a female beagle mix. Sweeetie's name fits her! She is the sweetest girl! Sweetie loves to hang out on the couch & sleep with her person at night! She loves people! Sweetie has even been around young children & is good with them. She just tends to ignore young children rather than play with them. Sweetie has lived with a cat & got along great with the cat! However, she is territorial with other dogs. So she would do best as the only dog in the family. Sweetie is housetrained. She will let you know when she has to go outside by going to the door with excitement. Sweetie is also crate trained. She rides well in the car. Sweetie might be mixed with some basset hound, & weighs about 40 lbs. Please make Sweetie part of your family! Sweetie is up-to-date on shots & spayed. Sweetie is available for adoption through Centre County PAWS. If you are interested in Sweetie, please email:
